The conservation area of wolverton is to protect the Victorian parts of the Railway town which includes the Railway works. St Modwen have put in a planning application for demolition of the site for homes new works and super market. They have looked into keep a few facades of the buildings but say the buildings must go. This application goes against the conservation area policies and rules but yet the council are more than likely going to pass it through. Tower blocks on site go against the conservation rules. The conservation area rules have already been broken by the application for the food store which is not in keeping with the area to be passed. It is very unfair to keep the conservation area policies and rules over wolverton now as this means people have to pay through the nose just to replace the windows in their homes or put up a front gate etc why should one rule apply to development companies and another rule for the people of the town.
