Action Against Foxhunting Cornwall insist St Ives Council need to cease from, with immediate effect, hosting The Western Hunt at the Annual Feast as invited by The Mayor. This Hunt is classed as a Trail Hunt, the type of which are known to regularly break the law in respect of the Foxhunting Ban. There are many local eyewitness accounts of illegal activity by this Hunt in the surrounding Countryside. The majority of the public including residents and holidaymakers in St Ives are appalled to see this Wildlife Crime go unchecked for the most. There is a high level of disbelief that these people would be invited by public dignitaries and a strong feeling that this reflects badly on them and the beautiful town of St Ives. People in a position of public trust should not be condoning or colluding with those suspected of such activity outside the law, a group of “Dog Fighters” would not be treated with this courtesy!
