St Albert has a dog bylaw in effect but nothing regarding cats in the city. Due to policy changes EHS(Edmonton Humane Society) no longer takes in cats from our city unless injured so the cats that are found have no safe place to go. It is well documented St Albert has a severe coyote problem so allowing cats to be released or to roam is not safe for them. Illegal trapping and dumping is also taking place.

Even if getting a bylaw together can not be done quickly some form of shelter must be provided. We appreciate that council is looking at the issue but something must be done ASAP for the cats safety

The majority of cats found are missing  pets just as our dogs are. St Albert needs a safe shelter for our found and stray cats the same as the city contract with   Morinville Vet Clinic provides for our dogs.
