To stop the unnecessary and senseless shooting of dogs by Police Officers
The Issue
The Anti-Dog Fighting Campaign Worldwide Org is attempting to encourage law enforcement officers attend a dog behavior training course. A dog's behavior is complex and the signals that dogs send are often subtle. Dogs communicate using a complex language of body signals that reflect what they are thinking and feeling. They use these signals consciously and unconsciously to communicate intent and ensure their personal safety by affecting behaviors in others. This is why we are seeking the officers go through training in attempt to end/reduce the shooting of family loved ones.
We are asking for all police officers to be trained in dog awareness courses and to be aware of dogs' body language in order to avoid friendly and safe dogs being shot by police officers who have no idea how to read a dog's body language!
We are asking for all police officers to be ordered if a dog approaches them and they are unsure of what the dog is likely to do, to use pepper spray in the first instance.
We are also asking for a prosecution and possible jail sentence for all police officers who shoot a dog unnecessarily and for those who shoot dogs in front of children unless it is proven that shooting the dog was unavoidable.
