The politician Danny Kruger, Conservative MP for East Wiltshire (formerly Devizes) delivered a highly impactful speech from a nearly empty House of Commons chamber during an adjournment debate on the future of the Church of England on July 17, 2025  .

In that speech, Kruger urgently called for a “revival of faith” and a “recovery of Christian politics”, arguing that Christianity forms the very foundation of UK democracy, and warning of rising alternative ideologies  .
