Oncor, the energy provider for most of north Texas including the SMU main campus, announced Monday morning the anticipated rotating outages could last hours instead of the initially described 15 minutes. For on-campus residents, this means they will be in the dark for hours and wait an additional 6 hours for heating and hot water to resume. Many off-campus residents are facing similar situations. These conditions constitute and unsafe living environment, much less an unproductive learning environment.
