The biggest threat to the world's Dusky Dolphin populations is people encroaching more and more on their natural habitats usually in the form of commercial fishing. Dusky Dolphins are often lead to being caught up in vast nets where they can quickly become trapped. Other reasons for the decline in Dusky Dolphins include the fact that they are also hunted in some areas (particularly Peru) for their meat and are injured by large boats that hit them.
