Stop the Killing of Beavers in Nevers Park, South Windsor, CT
The Issue
On April 1st, a family of beavers in Nevers Park was trapped and killed, on orders from town officials. An assessment of the pond by a nationally known beaver expert showed that a simple water flow system and some tree wrapping could solve any problems and allow for co-existence with the next beavers, for less than two thousand dollars. The expert also said young beavers will certainly find the pond, perhaps any day now, when they are most active. We need to stop all trapping NOW and work toward coexistence with the next beavers, and to let the citizens of South Windsor and visitors enjoy these fascinating creatures as they go about their work creating a tremendous ecosystem that harms no one.
