Dear supporters of the effort to retire the Red Raider,

Momentum and pressure are growing in our efforts to retire the Red Raider! At last night's school board meeting, four current Gaston County Schools students and two alumni spoke powerfully about the need to change the mascot; particularly powerful were the voices of students of color and Native Americans who spoke about how the mascot creates an unwelcoming school environment for them. The school board has received a growing number of calls and emails asking them to put the mascot issue on the agenda but they continue to avoid action. Please take a minute to email the board and encourage them to take action on this issue!
