Save the 1st purpose built NHS hospital (Teignmouth) from closure
The Issue
South Devon and Torbay CCG have welcome proposals for a new medical/community centre in Teignmouth but their proposals include closing the first purpose build NHS Hospital in the UK.
There is a shortage of hospital bed spaces in the UK and the 32 beds Teignmouth could again provide would help that shortage and provide a much needed local health care service.
Over the years I have visited many elderly people who recieved excellent care in their local community which I know helped their recovery.
Please help save our local hospital, both for the local service it provides and as a working symbol and an important historic milestone in the development of the NHS
