Stop discrimination against natural hair in South African schools

Stop discrimination against natural hair in South African schools

The Issue

Through the years, there have been many incidents in our schools where people of colour were discriminated against for wearing their natural hair to school. Many of our schools have school policies that do not allow for black and mixed race students to wear their natural (e.g afros, braids, dreadlocks etc) . How are African children not allowed to be African in Africa? We as people of colour, are discriminated against in our own continent. This petition serves as a request for the South African Department of Education, and the government as a whole, to investigate all white owned schools and/or to make a new law that eliminates any kind of discrimination against our natural hair in our schools
