John Hume took the decision to breed rhino in order to stockpile rhino horn believing that the rhino horn trade would be legalised.

His venture failed and in April 2023 he made the decision to auction the 8000 hectare farm in the North West Province where he has intensively bred rhino.

The 2000 rhino and the farm will be placed on auction for the sum of $10 million, he is hoping to try and recoup his investment.
