Dear Friend

Please support our fundraising appeal!

We’re asking you, as your commitment, engagement and generous support was crucial in ensuring the voice of our community was heard through the Save Our South Bank campaign.

Your support made sure the story was featured on the BBC News and across the national and London press.

Your support made sure Michael Gove heard our objections and called in the 72 Upper Ground application for a public inquiry, using his special powers as Secretary of State.

Your support made sure we could get hold of eminent expert witnesses on planning, on heritage, on design, on retrofitting and environmental impact, on daylight, so we could present robust evidence on how incredibly damaging this office eyesore would be to the South Bank.

This was always a David vs Goliath battle.

Your support helped even up the odds for a determined community taking on the multinational corporation Mitsubishi and their developers CORE.

And we’re nearly at decision time. The Inspector has finished her report. We’ve been told to expect a decision from Michael Gove in, or before, early August.

The tide may be turning. This week alone, the Brixton community won their fight against the HONDO Tower in Brixton and Michael Gove put an end to plans for the unnecessary demolition and redevelopment of the historic Marks & Spencer building at Marble Arch.

Mounting our case at a public inquiry cost us £15,000. We called in favours. We got work done for free or discounted. We used all the skills available from the community.  We were up against some of the top planning barristers in the country, commissioned by Lambeth Council and Mitsubishi.

The good news is we have already raised nearly £13,000 to meet these costs, through a mix of donations on the Give as You Live website, fundraising events and larger donations given directly.

However, we now face a shortfall of £2,000 to settle the remaining bills. This is where we urgently need your support. With just one more push, we can ensure everyone involved receives fair compensation, and our outstanding debts are settled.

We only need 20 people to contribute £100. Or 40 people to contribute £50. Or just 10 people to contribute £200!

Can you help us?

Your generosity has brought us this far, and we are immensely grateful for your continued dedication. Together, let's amplify our impact by sharing this appeal widely within your circles. If you can make another donation, no matter the amount, it would make an immeasurable difference in this critical fight.

The easiest way to donate is through the Give As You Live link below.  If you would prefer to give in another way, please drop us an email at saveoursouthbank22@gmail.com and we would be very happy to help.
