SOS Europe - a call for unity, petition update July 1st // the Federal Alliance of European Federali

I closed the previous update by saying that the advent of the world's first federation in 1787 is the birth certificate of the creation of our own Federal Alliance of European Federalists.

Our goal, with the establishment of our federation in 2018, is to strengthen the organisation of federalist and pro-European movements: federating the federalists. In this way, we can influence the efforts to give Europe a federal status. A Europe with a democratic federal constitution instead of the undemocratic intergovernmental treaties of the European Union. In other words, a radical change in the way the European Union currently bureaucratically manages the 27 Member States top-down.

When, in May 2021, the EU decided to hold a conference on the future of Europe for the second time in 20 years, we decided to set up a Citizens' Convention ourselves. That resulted in the participation of 70 European citizens from more than 20 different EU and non-EU countries and territories. The aim of our Convention was to improve the already existent draft of a Federal European constitution published together with the European Federalist Papers by Leo Klinkers and Herbert Tombeur (2013). It has become a unique form of a six-month peer-review.

From October 2021 to the end of March 2022, our Citizens' Convention designed a ten-article federal constitution for Europe. That constitution will be submitted to the people of Europe for ratification. See the icon ‘Federal Constitution’ on our website www.faef.eu
