Cars compete with each other emphasizing on the subject of road safety. It is correct to assume that the best cars are the safest cars. Annually, competitions are held to evaluate the safest cars on the road. For 2016, an independent body called European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP) conducted the search.

Key categories
They based the winners using four key categories: (1) the area on adult occupant protection; (2) the area on child occupant protection; (3) the area if pedestrian protection; and (4) the area of safety assistance, including technology as AEB and lane-departure warning.

The top five safest cars on the road for 2016 are:
1. Alfa Romeo Giulia saloon
Alfa Romeo Giulia is stylish and pleasant to drive. Highest scores were given to: side-impact feature of for adult occupant protection, minimizing-whiplash seats and the passenger compartment’s strength. Impressive scores were given to lane-departure warning and standard autonomous emergency braking systems (AEB) .

Last summer, Euro NCAP crash tested the car and gave Giulia a five star rating. All models are equipped with a lane-departure warning system, hosts of airbags and mandatory kit of stability electronic control with forward warning collision system and autonomous emergency braking.

2. Volvo XC90 SUV
Volvo XC90 SUV has excellent ratings in child occupant protection; pedestrian protection and safety assist well as AEB and lane-departure warning systems. Its ranks second in adult occupant protection score for its seatbelt on all seven seats and its speed limiter that uses camera and digital mapping to determine the speed limit.

The engine of XC90 is impressively muted saving its occupants from the intrusive mechanical noise so they travelled blessed in serenity and silence

3. Volkswagen Tiguan SUV
This VW SUV is family-friendly that impressed Euro NCAP testers with the way Tiguan handled frontal and side impacts although assessment of the adult passenger’s rear-seat was marginal. Children have back seat protections that are well-fitted. The ‘active’ bonnet of the car goes up as pedestrians’ protection from rigid parts of the engine. These features gave the model top ratings in this category.

Positive marks were given to AEB standard-fit feature as well as the systems for lane-departure warning. The well- built interior of the car offers comfortable decent driving with its range of efficient petrol and diesel engines.

4. Mercedes GLC SUV
Mid-sized Mercedes GLC is a worthy competitor of the others having modern designs. It got high rating in adult occupant category including other areas. The highly overall structural rigidity of the GLC greatly impressed the testers awarding the car high scores for front passenger protection in the frontal tests and full marks during side-impact maneuvers.

Testers noted that the lane-departure warning system is not so efficient but it is compensated by a reasonably strong safety result. The expensive GLC is supplemented by good-looking and sleek interior creating an ambiance that makes driving an awesome and comfortable experience.

5. Audi Q7 SUV
Audi Q7 displayed stiffness and integrity in its structure that greatly impressed the Euro NCAP’s testers earning them high adult occupant score. Results from the other areas are more than satisfactory. Despite its size, height and weight, the Q7 came out with descent ratings that are competitive. The Audi Q7 is enormously practical and easy on the wheel.

Despite its bulk, SQ7 model delivers the most straight-line speed. It performs well coupled with its suspension system that cleverly disguises the bulk and weight of the car.
