As of today, Saturday, December 14, 2024, our petition—launched just 7 days ago—has already gathered 245 signatures, representing 1.63% of Sooke’s population (15,000). We are deeply grateful to everyone who has signed and supported this critical initiative urging Sooke Council and the BC Government to work together to resolve healthcare and infrastructure challenges.

Using standard polling methods, this suggests that approximately 70% of Sooke residents—around 10,500 people—support collaboration. With a margin of error of ±6%, the true number of supporters likely falls between 9,870 and 11,130 residents.

For comparison:

The traffic petition launched in June collected 3,379 signatures, representing 22.53% of Sooke's population by December 13.
If this petition continued at its current daily rate, it could gather an estimated 6,615 signatures over the same  period.
This shows that the momentum for getting both sides to the table on Bill 44, avoiding BC Gov. enforcing Bill 44, is stronger than ever. We’re also encouraged that Sooke MLA Dana Lajeunesse has agreed to mediate this impasse. However, we’ve received no response from Sooke Council to date.
