After nearly an entire month of backlash, bad publicity, cancelled Vita games and panic buying, PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan has humbly admitted that the decision to close the PS Stores on their legacy systems was a mistake. As such, they will officially be keeping the stores on PS3 and Vita open.

Curiously, the PSP Store is still set to close on July 2nd 2021. But this is rather ambiguous. We have not been able to directly purchase games on the PSP for years. Since 2016 we could only buy them via the stores on the web, PS3 and Vita. It currently remains to be seen if we'll still be able to buy PSP content via the PS3 and Vita after July 2nd.

It goes without saying that the squeaky wheel gets the grease. We asked to keep our stores, Sony listened. Now let's see if we can get 100% Vita compatibility on PSTV or at the very least PS1/PS2/PS3/PSP/Vita backwards compatibility on PS4 and PS5.
