Petition updateSave our PlayStation TV and Vita, give us 100% Vita compatibility on PSTV.Changes this month for PlayStation Store on web and mobile... not good for digital Vita buyers.

Apparently, Sony has been putting out an email to developers alerting them of a new change coming the PlayStation Store as accessed via the web and mobile devices. The changes are to come into effect on October 19 for the web and October 28 for mobile.

SIE will no longer offer the ability for consumers to purchase:

PlayStation 3 games and add-ons
PSP (PlayStation Portable) games and add-ons
PlayStation Vita games and add-ons
Apps
Themes
Avatars

They are also getting rid of the 'Wishlist', any items in your wishlist will be deleted after these dates.

With the PS4 having outsold the original PlayStation, and the PS5 coming out this Christmas, this is perhaps not a shock. However, it must be stressed that this change only applies to web browsers and mobile devices. Sony stresses that you will still be able to purchase this content via your PS3 or PS Vita's PlayStation Store app. For now anyway.

While reassuring that we can still buy games and DLC, it is rather depressing that we won't be able to buy games on the web anymore. The PS3's PS Store was always lagy, and the Vita's store app has had bugs from time to time. The online store was so much more convenient. You could add things to a cart and buy games and DLC in one big batch. Given that the PS4 Remote Play on the Vita is still supported by current new releases and the Vita is still receiving new games, you'd think we should at the very least be given a "Legacy games" or "Classic games" section where we could continue to buy these downloads conveniently through the web.

Perhaps a "give us back our online PS3/PSP/Vita shopping" petition is needed?
