Re-Release the Last of the Hotel Transylvania Films in Theatres Worldwide on a Later Date
Re-Release the Last of the Hotel Transylvania Films in Theatres Worldwide on a Later Date
The issue
The Hotel Transylvania franchise has been lucky to've made it this far by having 4 films, and is the 4th animated film franchise to have more then 2 theatrical follow ups that aren't spinoffs following that of Shrek, Ice Age and Toy Story. Unfortunately things have not been doing well with the movie industry lately due to a certain virus that's been taking place in the past year, all to the point where films are having their release pushed back just when ready to release (even if it means exceeding how long before a film's release a first trailer would usually come around) or becoming an Original for a Streaming Service, which has even applied to those from studios that only do theatrical films. With those films that became Streaming Service Originals that don't look better as such, they should all re-release in theatres worldwide at some point and some form once covid-19 has passed, especially those that are from studios that only do theatrical films and those that are sequels to previous theatrical films.
With Hotel Transylvania 4: Transformania, of which as the name implies is about Drac (now voiced by a YouTuber who's been known for doing character voices instead of Adam Sandler for reasons still yet to be explained) and his pack being turned into humans and Johnny being turned into a monster through a transformation beam that is owned by a now redeemed Van Heisling, it's been a film that I've praised to successfully have it's theatrical run and not join the list of other animated films that are in need of re-releasing in theatres worldwide at some point and some form once covid-19 has passed, especially as it's a sequel to films that have done quite well in theatres with how much they grossed. Of course it's gone through a number of shifts in it's release from December 2021 to August 2021 to July 2021 to October 2021, likely because of how production had been ahead of schedule and in order to not compete with other films, but now it's unfortunately become a streaming service original for Amazon rather then Netflix thanks to a Delta Variant of Covid-19 taking place, which is ironic as there are films still releasing in theatres during that time like a sequel to the 2019 Addams Family film: https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-news/addams-family-2-to-shift-to-same-day-theatrical-and-online-rental-release-1235001016/
So since what's to be the last of the Hotel Transylvania films didn't end up hitting both theatres and digital media on the same day like The Addams Family 2, it's officially joined the list of 8 other animated films of 2020 and 2021 that are in need of eventually re-releasing in theatres worldwide at some point and some point once covid-19 has passed (the others of which of course include those other Sony Animation films of 2021 that came to Netflix). There's no way Hotel Transylvania 4 should be excluded from anything that's able to be done with the other 3 films due to becoming an Amazon Original, nor as there any way it would be considered as the 4th theatrically released fourthquel (and better yet Sony Animation's first fourthquel) to an animated film franchise unless it has a theatrical run like Shrek Forever After, Ice Age 4: Continental Drift and Toy Story 4 already have.
