Not only do we need a realistic air quality index standard. We also need to understand what precautionary measures are taken upon schools resuming classes. It’s my understanding some schools were able to conduct a deep cleaning and change air filters and provide air purifiers before resuming classes. I’ve been told that is not the case for the elementary school where my three children attend. That with the schools being closed no administration had been to the school until this morning.
If this is going to be the new norm, if you will. Then the school board needs to be able to function within that ecosystem. Measures must be taken to protect are children’s health. Simply dictating an unrealistic standard to keep schools open is a threat to the very health of our youth.
Not taking the proper steps to ensure the classrooms and public space is clean and free of toxins is a blatant disregard for our students health.
