What an awesome response from all of you! We received word that the Fee Increase item has been pulled from the 4/21 agenda. The Health Dept. is going to "invite additional public input and provide education" at a future meeting. This is a good step in the right direction. But we can't let up on this now. We encourage you to attend the Sonoma County Supervisors meeting at 8:30am on 4/21 and give Public Comment (not on an agenda item) to the Board of Supervisors at the opening of the meeting, that you would like them to find another solution to subsidize the Food Programs staffing and not raise fees on the farmers and small food operators. They need to go back to the budget and find another way because "cost recovery" of a program like this will only put farmers and cottage food producers out of business, closing farmer's markets.
