Petition Update – Breaking the Silence and Demanding Accountability

“No child should lose safety, stability, or a loving parent because systems failed to recognize abuse.”

This petition is about more than one story. It represents the voices of many survivors who feel unheard in systems that were meant to protect them.

I am a second-generation survivor of domestic violence. My birth mother was the first victim in my family, and I was only about three or four months old when she died. Because of that history, I have spent my life trying to break the cycle and create a safer future for my children.

When survivors leave abusive relationships, many believe the legal system will help protect them and their children. Unfortunately, some victims find themselves facing long family court battles while trying to rebuild their lives.

Many survivors struggle to obtain legal representation. Some victims are declined by legal aid services or cannot afford attorneys. People living with disabilities or learning impairments often face additional barriers when trying to navigate complex legal systems.

When society judges victims and overlooks the truth and facts of abuse, it allows abusers and bullies to continue their behavior without accountability.

This petition calls for greater oversight, accountability, and reform so that family courts, legal professionals, and child welfare systems truly protect victims and children.

Survivors deserve to be heard. Children deserve safety. Systems meant to protect families must be held accountable when they fail.

Stand with survivors, families, and people with disabilities—sign and share this petition to demand accountability and reform.
