Petition Update: Truth Over Reputation
I once believed silence was the greatest problem. I now understand that silence was actively enabled.
Behind closed doors, my abusive alcoholic ex-husband was protected by his family while I endured physical, emotional, psychological, and financial abuse. In public, his reputation was preserved. In private, I was expected to suffer quietly.
His family repeatedly told me not to call the police, choosing image over safety. They did not seek help to stop the abuse or protect our family. Instead, they enabled his behavior and later used money, influence, and the family court system to destroy my relationship with my children.
My personal lump-sum funds—received long before the marriage—were taken and dismissed as “dowry.” This was not culture. It was financial abuse.
The harm escalated when my ex-husband cheated with a coworker, later forming a business with her, while I was isolated, blamed, and silenced. These actions were compounded by the misuse of family court procedures to erase my parental rights.
What makes this even more disturbing is that his mother’s sister was a victim of domestic violence and was murdered by her husband. Despite this tragic family history, abuse was still normalized and enabled.
I no longer care about my ex-husband’s reputation. I care about truth and facts. Children and victims should not be forced to live a lie to protect an abuser’s image.
No child or children should ever be used as pawns in the family court system. Children are not leverage. They are human beings whose safety and well-being must come first.
This petition calls for accountability—not silence, not image protection, and not systems that punish victims while rewarding abusers.
