Social Network Account Administration (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr): Review And Remove Malicious Suicide Video of Paris Lane

The Issue

On March 16, 2004, Paris Lane, an up and coming rapper from New York City decided to take his life in the lobby floor of University Projects in the Bronx due to continuous battles with internal demons and tribulations. This death was his decision to find a way out of whatever pain he was struggling with. However, the general public will not allow for this pain to be alleviated due to the mass uploading and sharing of his suicide via surveillance tape. The surveillance tape, which was illegally and disgustingly leaked online from one of the New York City Housing Authority workers has been posted plenty of times throughout the almost 10 year tenure of its existence, each time being brought down due to complaint and requests from the family. It has now resurfaced on Facebook and Tumblr and clips have made its rounds on Instagram. This is a man with a family, two brothers, six sisters and a host of aunts, uncles, neices, nephews, cousins, and friends. It bothers their daily lives when they have to happen across the video and see people who never knew him or his life commenting and degrading his legacy. This modest proposal is a call for social network administrators to regard the flag and report policies and actively delete any and all videos that have a high flag count, as this video will be getting. In the status quo, a comment/video can be reported numerous times and it still takes days for the video or page to be flagged or punished, it would be less damaging if there was a quicker response. There are children on these networks, the last thing anyone would want is to traumatize a child for life due to the sick humor of some adults.  With this in mind, we present these signatures in protest of the existence of that video on these sites.
