In other good news, Kelly’s mother appeared last week in six live on-line sessions at the World Psychiatric Association’s (WPA) first Online Congress, which is the yearly conference of the organisation, attended by psychiatrists from around the world.  There were many sessions on ethics, on human rights and on involving service users (formerly called patients) and their families in psychiatric care and in research and education.  The WPA plans to continue its Service Users and Family Carers Advisory Group indefinitely.  Hopefully the concerns of the psychiatric associations will become translated into actions of psychiatrists around the world to provide better care that respects their patients and their families.
