**COMMUNITY CEMETERY – AWARENESS**

Our cemetery is a private cemetery, but it still has to comply with applicable **laws, regulations and municipal requirements**.

Our concerns are painful, traumatic and our beloved deserved a dignified resting place, ...cry the beloved country

• Stolen/damaged tombstones and graves
• Open graves
• No proper security or personnel
• No roads or proper pathways
• No water and sanitation
• Rubbish, overgrown areas and poor maintenance

These concerns may involve the **City of Johannesburg Cemeteries By-law, National Health Act regulations, environmental laws, land-use laws and Heritage laws.**

Relevant stakeholders include:

The purpose is simply to **raise awareness that the condition of the cemetery may require investigation by the relevant authorities**, particularly regarding the protection of graves, public health, security, heritage and proper cemetery management.
