李光耀，为新加坡完成了许多数不完的贡献，在过去的一周，我们的媒体却只称呼他为建国总理，据说这是一个官方正式的称呼，也听说是他老人家很谦卑，不觉得自己应该有一个属于个人功劳的头衔。李光耀的离世，留下了很多震撼，让新加坡人打从心底发出了许多意想不到的尊重和敬仰，而他的教诲他的治国理念和他的精神，肯定都是我们日后追随和学习的，他的影响力，不只是新加坡，同时也在国际上被认可。虽然联合晚报和早报开始如此称呼，是来的迟了一些，但其他媒体还没有一个统一的称呼，我因此在这里呼吁，新加坡人，让我们一起来请愿，让我们尊敬的李光耀先生被我们的政府，正式封上对他更公平的荣衔- 新加坡国父，让这个称呼流传子子孙孙。全面体现新加坡人和国际社会对他的尊重和敬仰。

Despite Mr Lee Kuan Yew’s countless contributions to Singapore, the media had merely described him as our "founding Prime Minister" in the past week. It seems that this is the “official” description of him, perhaps because he had never been obsessed with titles.

 Mr Lee's passing has left a deep impact, with the number of Singaporeans expressing their heartfelt respect and admiration so overwhelming beyond all expectations. Mr Lee is a role model whose teachings, experiences, and spirit we should learn from and follow. He is influential not only in Singapore, but globally as well.

 Without a befitting official title, Mr Lee will continue to be described loosely as “former Prime Minister”, “First Prime Minister”, “former Minister Mentor”, “founding Prime Minister”, etc in the media. We urge all Singaporeans to join us in a campaign to request our Government to officially bestow on Mr Lee the title of “Founding Father”. This would be a befitting title to reflect Singaporeans’ respect and admiration for him for the generations to come.
