Today, Gamtaa Qeerroo Dargaggoo Oromoo (GQDO) proudly celebrates an important victory for peace, unity, reconciliation, and the protection of innocent lives.
Our petition has shown that the voices of people who believe in peace are powerful. Every signature, every message of support, and every person who stood with this initiative has strengthened our collective call:
“Civilians are not the enemy.”
We thank everyone who stood with GQDO and supported the call for all armed actors—including the Ethiopian government and its security forces, OLA, FANO/Amhara armed groups, and every other armed actor—to stop killing innocent civilians in Oromia and throughout Ethiopia.
This victory does not belong to one person. It belongs to every person who chose peace over violence, dialogue over hatred, and human life over political conflict.
Special Recognition
We recognize Ibsa Negassa Wegassa, a member of Gamtaa Qeerroo Dargaggoo Oromoo (GQDO), for his contribution to the creation and development of the “Silencing the Gun Among Brothers” peace initiative and slogan.
We also recognize Abdela Hussen Djillo, Top Committee Member of GQDO, for his leadership in organizing, preparing, and bringing this petition to Change.org.
