Let's Start a new IHSS In Home Careproviders Statewide Union

The Issue

Let's start a new IHSS California Careproviders (only) Union (ICCU). Statewide labor group/union!  ~ Free of the SEIU!

Sign the petition in support of a new union for IHSS California Careproviders in California to unite at collective bargaining along side the record profiting Homecare organizations.

How will our union be different?:

  • The ICCU will promise to fairly support all union members that are current with membership dues.
  • The new ICCU Union plans to represent IHSS Careproviders only.
  • Union Officials will be IHSS Careproviders.
  • Service and support will be provided for late pay complaints.
  • Polite service that responds in a timely manner.
  • Compliance with Harris vs Quinn ruling.
  • ICCU will never deduct dues unless signature to join.
  • ICCU will never deduct dues after resignation letter.

The SEIU is not obligated to provide support to the IHSS providers, so let's start a new union!

The IHSS program benefits Thousands of families in California, and if Careproviders are not properly supported by IHSS official, the recipients and Careproviders suffer without representation at collective bargaining.

Together we can make the program work for all the recipients to find a good Careprovider that gets paid in a timely manner and has all the rights any other employee of California would enjoy. Currently the SEIU reportedly has an 80% resignation rate, and unfortunately for IHSS users, a sign that the IHSS providers are not the only union members that are becoming aware of union shenanigans.

The  problem is that if the providers do not have a representative labor group or union, the state's collective bargaining would be inaccessible to the very employees, unless the IHSS employees start a new union or labor group. Too many providers are quitting IHSS, if they have that option because they are non family/relative care, or simply do not get paid on time, or at all. Too much suffering and we have the tools and solutions, but till have to navigate the IHSS waters alone.

The IHSS Careproviders need an approved accepted representative in collective bargaining, but SEIU union membership is down 80%, so this is our chance to have representation that is only IHSS providers and not all types of careproviders. Too often IHSS providers are limited and discriminated against as "exempt" from too many labor law and benefits, such as punctual pay.

Careproviders deserve an updated payroll system! Punctual pay!

For example:  An error on a timesheet and it could and too often delays pay for unspecified about of time, for weeks and months. We ask the union for support and they hang up the phone, but continue to take dues. Many providers aren't aware they are in a union, so we ask all providers to ask their county's union for proof of signature to join the union.

IHSS and the union should comply with the law and we Careproviders hope this petition and online opportunities to support a better IHSS union, today.

Reminder: Union membership is optional for IHSS Care-providers as of June 2014. We advise all IHSS providers to ask their union for confirmation of union signature, and refund dues deducted illegally.
