Dear Supporters,

I hope this finds you well and having had a good Christmas and New Year break with the minimum of stress and the maximum of good health.

We are so nearly at 5,000 signatures  Thank you to you all!  Let's push it over the line so that Change.org sends a confirming email to Angela Glass at EHDC.

East Hampshire Local Plan Consultation ends Mon 16th Jan

Here's the link: https://ehdclocalplan.commonplace.is

The Say No campaign team discussed our approach to responding and if anyone would like some signposts to this please email us at saynotochawtonparkfarm@gmail.com.

Just as a reminder, this Consultation is the first part of a repeated Regulation 18 Consultation from 2018.  The second part, which will include consultation on sites, will take place we understand, in September this year.  We don't want Chawton Park Farm to be in it!

Letter to the Leader of EHDC 13th Dec

Here we summarise what has happened from June - Dec last year and set out our thoughts taking into account the amendments to the Levelling Up Bill set out by Michael Gove MP on 5th December.

Michael Gove's letter to MPs of 5th Dec

His letter sets out amendments to the Levelling Up Bill, some of which are encouraging for our campaign.

There is now a National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) consultation taking place on these amendments, which finishes on 2nd March.

Response to our letter to EHDC Leader from Chief Operating Officer (COO)

The COO replied that after the Government has responded to the NPPF Consultation, EHDC would be happy to discuss with us what this means for EHDC moving forward.  We would welcome the chance to sit down with EHDC for a proper discussion - something we have been asking for since Autumn 2021.

So we start this New Year with the hope that the changes to the Levelling Up Bill announced by Michael Gove MP will give EHDC what it needs in order to change the way it has been calculating the housing numbers for our area, given the constraint of the SDNP and the area of protected heathland which only leaves 30% land area for any development outside both of these - so rendering 1200 houses on Chawton Park Farm unneeded.  Of course there are, as we all know, a myriad other reasons not to develop this unique tract of landscape so beloved of Altonians for rural recreation.

All the best to everyone and thank you for your continued support!
