Sept 30 Call to Action: THE SURVEY IS NOW *LIVE*

CALL TO ACTION: Santa Barbara’s Aquatics Community:
A *NEW* Parks & Recreation survey was released today - See the link below entitled "Take the survey." This community outreach is happening during the month of October.
Update TODAY, Fri, Oct 2, I attempted to share *this flyer* with swimmers at Los Banos, however, staff forbade me from doing so without permission from the City.
We need your help:
- Spread the word at the pool. Make sure swimmers, coaches, and other members of the aquatics community know about the survey.
- Take the survey. Make your voice count. Help the City understand that aquatics facilities need to be a priority—including the approved Ortega Park Pool and, ultimately, a major aquatics center somewhere in Santa Barbara. Please understand that an abundance of people are lobbying for other Parks & Rec amenities.. We need to advocate for more pool space!
Why does this matter? Past community surveys have shown relatively little interest in improved aquatics facilities, due to lack of participation. That lack of response can easily be interpreted as lack of need—and the result has been that adequate aquatic facilities have historically not been a priority. For inspiration, see what's in the works in Oxnard.
Complacency has consequences. Let’s make sure our voices are heard this time.
