Pool meeting
Wednesday, June 8th at 6pm

The most important points to convey at the June 8 meeting are:

• The pool project MUST be prioritized over other park amenities. Otherwise, it will be up to 10 years, or NEVER, when it is built. Their plan was to use the space for something else, until we can raise the money. These funds can be made available. So we must demand that the pool is prioritized.
• Besides open swim for the community & swim lessons, We want aquatic sports opportunities at Ortega Park: SWIM TEAM, WATER POLO, organized COMPETITIONS for these sports.
• Therefore, the pool must be "regulation sized" for competitive aquatic sports (see page 3 of USA Swimming attachment) More lanes, and wider lanes, provide more opportunities and improved logistics. The exact dimensions matter. NOT a non-competitive swimming pool.. What a rip-off!
• The currently allocated space for the aquatics facilities is insufficient. Everything is crammed in a small space. The space needs to be much BIGGER.

Los puntos más importantes a transmitir en la reunión del 8 de junio son:

• El proyecto de la piscina DEBE priorizarse sobre otros servicios del parque. En caso contrario, será de hasta 10 años, o NUNCA, cuando se construya. Su plan era usar el espacio para otra cosa, hasta que podamos recaudar el dinero. Estos fondos pueden estar disponibles. Así que hay que exigir que se priorice la piscina.
• Además de natación abierta para la comunidad y clases de natación, queremos oportunidades de deportes acuáticos en el Parque Ortega: EQUIPO DE NATACIÓN, POLO ACUÁTICO, COMPETICIONES organizadas para estos deportes.
• Por lo tanto, la piscina debe tener el "tamaño reglamentario" para los deportes acuáticos competitivos (consulte la página 3 del anexo de USA Swimming). Más carriles y carriles más anchos brindan más oportunidades y una mejor logística. Las dimensiones exactas importan. NO es una piscina no competitiva. ¡Qué estafa!
