Dear friends and supporters,
Thank you again for standing with me by signing the Change.org petition. Your support has given me strength through one of the most difficult chapters of my life.
I’m writing to share a major update:
✅ My petition has now been officially approved by the House of Commons Petitions Office.
This is an official legal petition that — once launched and signed by 500 people — will require the Government of Canada to respond and take action within 45 days. I’m currently waiting for a Member of Parliament to sponsor it, which is the final step before it goes live on the House of Commons website.
As soon as it’s launched, I’ll send you the official link to sign and share.
This petition is about more than just my case — it’s about systemic consular failure, medical neglect, and the urgent need for policy reform to protect all Canadians detained or in distress abroad. The goal is real change that benefits every Canadian citizen, no matter where they are in the world.
🎥 In the meantime, I invite you to watch this short 2-minute video that explains my ordeal and why this matters to all of us:

Once the petition is launched, I will need your voice again — to sign, share, and speak out. Together, we can push for the protection and justice that all Canadians deserve.
With sincere thanks,
Ghazwan Abdel-Jeleel
