True Revolution Will Not Be Funded by Billionaires

“Real movements are not the creation of and beholden to millionaires.  The Progressive Movement is astroturf beholden to the rich elite, just as the Democratic millionaires and operatives of the Democracy Alliance intended.  The “movement’s” funding is in the hands of a small number of super rich Democrats and union bureaucrats and advisors who run with them.  Its talking points, strategies, tactics and PR campaigns are all at the service of the Democratic elite.  There is no grassroots organized progressive movement with power in the United States, and none is being built.  Indeed,  if anything threatens to emerge,  the cry  “Remember Nader!” arises and the budding insurgency is marginalized or coopted, as in the case of the Occupy Wall Street events." The Revolt Against Plutocracy committee agrees that Bernie is playing a dangerous game by trying to highjack the Democratic Party instead of running as an independent. The crystal ball will reveal if he did the right thing. Meanwhile, we Berners are under no obligation to think inside the same box that he has placed himself into.

If Bernie is merely sheep-dogging us into the corrupt DNC, we will exit, stage left and keep going. And if that happens, we will at least have in our minds the type of candidates to support going forward, not only for POTUS but also down-ballot. If we can find a way to raise the kind of money that Bernie can raise and use it, not only to locate new talent, but then also to hold candidates accountable when big money waves dollars in their faces, we can set a new agenda for anti-corruption/anti-neoliberalism.

Whatever happens, we need this revolution to continue. Bernie has started a new movement. He has kindled a new kind of fire in all of us. We need future insurance against any kind of setback or betrayal. This movement can never be allowed to die. Keep Bernin!
