Greedy locals have been grabbing lands in the remote Eastern Province for a long time.
During the civil war law and order collapsed, and well connected locals used their contacts in various offices and Government departments to acquire, illegally, lands and properties.
Recently, a long running Buddhist Temple dispute raised it's head.
And the new Government reacted quickly and decisively.
