LOUD CLANGING AT HEYSHAM's DODGY OLD REACTORS - nothing to worry about say EDF.

“An EDF spokesperson said: “In the early hours of this morning (Tuesday, March 17), while restarting one of the reactors at Heysham 2, one of the station’s steam systems made some noise that could be heard by local residents.
“Steam releases are normal during start‑up operations and can sometimes create noise. On this occasion, the noise was exacerbated by a control valve that did not operate as planned.”

AGR reactors were designed to be refuelled while still online at full capacity but because the reactors have never worked properly this has never happened. The reactors have never worked at full capacity and now they are old and dodgy they work at even less capacity providing a small amount of the total nuclear contribution to our electricity - which today is tiny - the image below is from National Grid Live on the 17th March when the reactors where clanging. Is the risk of continuing to run these dodgy old reactors really worth it?
