Show your support and solidarity with an abuse survivor from the Global South.
The Issue
Candice is a survivor of decades of abuse by their family.
They (and their sibling) are a survivor of child sexual abuse and incest by their family, which has never taken any accountability at all for their actions.
Instead, the family has insisted that Candice should just get therapy for their anger and that they should have just moved on by now, even though these violations are often life-long traumas:

From Candice's last ever conversation with her mother.
It's extremely common for survivors of CSA to experience delayed reactions to the abuse, as the memories often resurface decades into adulthood.
In addition, once the memories of the CSA finally began resurfacing as an adult, her family decided to have her psychiatrically incarcerated, while telling everyone that she had a mental disorder that was causing her to be so angry with them.
They also told everyone that she was the real abuser, framing her anger towards them as "abuse," a common abuser tactic known as DARVO.
Her family is also responsible for decades of coercive control and financial abuse, which kept Candice entrapped in a part of the Global South with extreme gun and gendered violence, where she endured decades of gun violence, witnessing murders, and experiencing attempted femicide and other forms of violence, until she was forced to find a way to escape the country alone.
Yet, even after all of this, Candice has still never been recognised as a victim by her "family", and her family has never remotely been held accountable for any of the harms they have inflicted.
We are asking folks today to show your support for Candice below, and to share why you support survivors, and what you believe survivors of CSA actually deserve.
We need to push back against the normalisation of abuse and sexual violence and insist that communities instead treat these acts of violation with the gravity and care that they deserve.
And we need those who perpetuate child sexual abuse and other forms of abuse to recognise what atrocious violations they have committed and how horrifying it is to not only normalise what they have done, but to also pathologise the victim for how the abuse has impacted them.
We believe and support the survivor. Please join us in sharing your solidarity as well. #JusticeForCandice.
