My name is Alexandra, and I'm on the Civic Engagement team at Change.org. Our team works to connect petition starters and supporters with the public officials who have the power to act on the issues you care about. 

I reached out to the offices of the Polk County Commissioners as well as the Sheriff’s Office regarding concerns raised in this petition about conditions at the Polk County Animal Shelter. Staff in both offices encouraged residents to bring their concerns directly to an upcoming County Commission meeting, where public comment is available.

The next Board of County Commissioners meeting will be held on:

Commission meetings occur on the first and third Tuesday of every month, and members of the public are invited to attend and speak.
