We have never had a decent skatepark in Folkestone. Currently there is the Shed, which was originally supported by Shepway (fundraising was the responsibility of locals), however now the youth centre is on their own (and it's not particularly good). There has always been a healthy skateboarding/BMXing community in the area and yet the council has never really invested in the youth of the town by providing a suitable area for them to skate or ride. Some of the nearby towns, which are smaller, already have small skateparks. However, I feel Folkestone would be the ideal area to build a larger skatepark. It would not only provide something for the local youth, but also for the youth in nearby towns. If the skatepark was well thought out, and good enough to attract visitors, it could benefit the town financially as well
