Sadly, things this year have spiraled out of control. The amount of animals being dumped into the shelters or on the streets is astronomical. The shelters are absolutely overflowing and while we understand that sometimes drastic measures have to be taken, it just seems like there should be a better way than euthanizing young and healthy dogs and cats.
We need reform. We need better communication from the shelters; volunteers must be allowed in to help and we need everyone to do their part. We hear of animals that are euthanized without us even knowing they were there. We need laws changed; we need owners to take responsibility for their animals. We need SHELTERS to listen when we try to warn them about bad or nefarious rescues pulling dogs; we need Animal Control to do their jobs - Respond and take action when people make reports about animals being neglected or abused. The level of living conditions allowed by animal control is absolutely despicable.
When owners dump dogs in deplorable conditions, why are they allowed to just walk away? Basic standards must be met.
Riverside is on a killing spree. Networkers are scrambling and desperately working around the clock to find rescues to help. Rescues are limited to the amount of resources they have.
Changes must be made. More time must be allowed and the shelters need to respond in a timely manner. This petition is not directed at the people simply doing their jobs at the shelter; it’s directed at the ‘RULE/POLICY MAKERS”. We know that people working at the shelter are following protocol and procedure. They to work diligently to help these animals. This petition is out of frustration and sadness over the treatment of living and breathing beings.
