We need the people of Sheffield to support our petition to force Sheffield City Council to debate at a full hearing of the Council why they have not been supportive of securing the future of this club in our favour either by granting a long lease or now by transferring ownership of the land; why they have chosen to ignore our repeated requests to have this matter resolved and why it would appear they continue to favour other parties to have rights over the land. We have been waiting for an answer for over a decade.

There are two sides to every story and we feel it is time for the people of Sheffield to get to know our plight. By highlighting the issues of the land ownership in such a fashion as this we are hoping that matters will be drawn to a speedy close. If successful we will have gained an insight into the dealings of the council departments that should really be looking after our needs. The delay is inexcusable and is causing severe hardships for the club.

We need 5000 signatures to achieve our goal. Please help us, your vote will help make a difference!

About Olive Grove

The Sheffield Works Department Sports & Social Club dates back to the 1920’s. It stands in over 3 acres of land off Heeley Bank Road, little over a mile from the Town Hall. Because of recent events we have struggled to our 91st year of business, and we are determined to reach our hundredth !.

We can only move the club forward by securing our rights to the land. Once successful the club will become known as Olive Grove Sports Club and the clubs and groups that use our facilities will be able to get access to grants and funding, which only the security of a lease/ ownership of the land can give. We can only thank them for their continued support.

Our aim is to continue to run and maintain Olive Grove Sports Club and associated sports grounds for the communal benefit of Sheffield and the surrounding area. The Club aims to continue to provide first class community facilities at an affordable cost to local organisations serving the community and private individuals from the area and to support the activities of the groups that are associated with the club.

As well as many community sports clubs seeing the place as home, local charities have become based at the site providing a secure environment for their members. We are home to Sheffield City Knights Project and Sheffield City Knights FC, a number of local cricket and football clubs and recently became home to AFC Norton WoodseatsJunior Football Club.

We cannot do this without your help. Thank you,
