Update + Keep in Touch With SF Symphony Musicians
https://www.sfsmusicians.org/stayintouch
Thank you for your continued support over the last three months since our Music Director, Esa-Pekka Salonen, announced he would not be renewing his contract with the San Francisco Symphony. His decision was a result of insurmountable differences with the Board and administrative leadership regarding the artistic vision and future of the organization. We have enjoyed meeting so many of you over the past few months, and hearing from you directly has been a powerful experience. Getting to know our patrons and loyal subscribers continually inspires us to maintain the level of excellence you have come to expect, and your support means a great deal to us.
Symphony leadership has recently made it known that they will not be renewing their conversations with Esa-Pekka and will instead be embarking on a search for a new music director. While we are disappointed by this news, the issues that led to Esa-Pekka’s announcement remain.
We continue to ask for your support in calling on the administration to reverse the following recent cuts:
- Innovative programming, including semi-staged productions and our groundbreaking Soundbox series
- An indefinite pause to national and international touring
- Digital media
- The acclaimed “Concerts for Kids” educational series
- Ongoing cuts to musicians’ salaries that make it difficult to recruit and retain top talent.
Your continued support means everything to us, and we cannot thank you enough. We hope that you will stay in touch with us to receive occasional updates on additional ways you can get involved and show your support for the future of the San Francisco Symphony at:
