Save Newark Wetlands
Feb 3, 2021

Dear Supporter,

Did you know that yesterday was World Wetlands Day? Celebrated around the world, the day was established 50 years ago in order to recognize the value of wetlands for humanity and the planet.

Here in the Bay Area, the wetlands at most imminent risk of destruction are the restorable San Francisco Bay wetlands in Newark - where developers want to pave over these valuable baylands with nearly 500 luxury houses. That is why we are so grateful to you for standing with us in our efforts to "Save Newark Wetlands!"

You are having an impact! As of today, thanks to your support, and the support of a dozen conservation organizations that have joined our cause, we have reached 4,612 total petition signatures*! That means we are just 388 signatures away from reaching our goal of 5,000!

In honor of World Wetlands Day, will you please share this petition with your friends and neighbors and help us reach our goal of 5,000 signatures by Monday?

Just visit our petition page and use the tools on the right side of the page to easily share the petition on Facebook or Twitter, or email it to your friends. Make sure to use the hashtag #SaveNewarkWetlands on social media!

I can tell you as a long-time activist working to protect San Francisco Bay, that it is rare for state agencies such as the SF Bay Conservation and Development Commission and SF Bay Regional Water Quality Control Board to hear from this many people -- and this show of support from the public really does make an impact.

Thank you again for all of your support,

Carin High
Co-Chair of Citizens Committee to Complete the Refuge
On behalf of Save Newark Wetlands

*As of 2/3, we have reached 4,612 total petition signatures, including Change.org and email actions sent by partner organizations including the Sierra Club, Center for Biological Diversity, Greenbelt Alliance and San Francisco Baykeeper.
