We watched this conversation live, and are thrilled the National Centre for Action on Child Sexual Abuse has made In Conversation: The Centre and Professor Ben Matthews available to view on their You Tube channel.

This is a powerful conversation about the prevalence of child sexual abuse in Australia. The facts are shocking, and the lack of any meaningful action by governments, even more so.

This conversation includes recommendations on what governments can do.

Also, what we must do as a society. Namely, refuse to accept that governments who act on our behalf, can wring their hands about the statistics but another 10 years go by, and nothing has changed.

Towards the end of this conversation, the importance of trauma informed assessments, asking not what's wrong with you, but what happened / what's happening to you, is mentioned. This underpins 'no wrong door' and Recomendation 9.1 of the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse. Which is what our petition is advocating the Victorian Government in implement in full.

We are profoundly grateful that over 13,000 people who have signed this petition, refuse to accept the current status quo for Victorian victims/survivors of child sexual abuse, when it comes to accessible, integrated, and relevant services and supports, as recommended by the Royal Commission.

Thank you.
