I started this petition with the aim of asking Boris Johnson to send 'Oxygen to India' thanks to kind supporters the petition gained momentum, soon afterwards the UK government started to send oxygen generators and other aid and pledges came from around the world in India's hour need which was truly fantastic to see. I belive this petition along with the many other good organisations in the UK played it's part in putting pressure on the UK government to send aid. To date the exact figures of what the UK has sent is not clear however we have sent aid and expertise to assist. The situation has improved in India and cases rates have dropped substantially in most states in India however people are still dying everyday and due to a poor health infrastrucure particularly in rural areas many millions are suffering daily. Covid has been devasting for millions of families, and some of the key challenges that India faces and needs help with are: 1/Accelerate vaccinations and medical support for those in rural and hard to reach communities who have little or no access to medical facilities. 2/Rebuild livelihoods to address rapidly increasing poverty by providing skills and access to jobs in sectors such as healthcare and logistics. 3/Protect mental health of children coping with the unprecedented levels of grief and anxiety. -------------------------------------------------------------------- On a personal note to assist I and my wife Neeta climbed Mount Snowdon in North Wales on the 26th of June 21' to raise money on behalf The British Asia Trust for their Oxygen For India Appeal via just giving:https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/rohit-kotecha We have raised £1500 to date and will keep it open for a bit longer as some donations are still coming in. Thank you all for supporting this petiition which has assisted a very worth while cause. Keep well and best wishes Robert Rohit Kotecha
