In partnership with Santa Cruz Climate Action Network and Santa Cruz Indivisible, we call upon Senator Dianne Feinstein to co-sponsor Senate Resolution 59: "A resolution recognizing the duty of the Federal Government to create a Green New Deal".

The October 2018 IPCC UN report tells us we must implement “rapid, far-reaching and unprecedented changes in all aspects of society” by 2030 to stop climate change and prevent catastrophic consequences. The time has come for bold leadership in our government!

The Green New Deal has 5 main goals:

1) Achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions through a fair and just transition for all communities and workers.

2) Create millions of good, high-wage jobs and ensure prosperity and economic security for all people of the United States.

3) Invest in the infrastructure and industry of the United States to sustainably meet the challenges of the 21st century.

4) Secure clean air and water, climate and community resilience, healthy food, access to nature, and a sustainable environment for all.

5) Promote justice and equity by stopping current, preventing future, and repairing the historic oppression of frontline and vulnerable communities.

A national mobilization of the size and scale of the Green New Deal presents an unprecedented opportunity not only to combat the climate crisis, but also to transform other key issues that you, Senator Feinstein, champion and hold dear, such as labor rights, economic reform, and a clean energy transition. The goals of the Green New Deal represent both what is needed to effectively address climate change and what is needed to transform our current economy to one that is just, prosperous, and sustainable for all Americans.

Senator Feinstein, it is your job to protect us. We ask that you show the power of your leadership today by fighting for our future and that of our children and grandchildren.
