Although the legislature passed LD1400, which has been the object of this petition, I’m not closing the petition. I think it’s important we continue to gather signatures ahead of the Bar Harbor vote—whenever they decide to hold it. I will be sending out some articles on a few topics, including cruise ship safety, environmental concerns and the possible effects of a port authority. We need to learn as much as possible about what we are in for if a port authority is approved by the voters of Bar Harbor. A Port Authority would affect all surrounding communities, not just Bar Harbor. We are NOT against all cruise ships coming to Frenchman Bay! We just want to be aware of any dangers to the environment they may have, so we can protect our beautiful Frenchman Bay!
