Please continue to share!

Talking points for tomorrow’s town hall at JECA have been posted online. Increase considered for “district staff,” while librarians/GT may be eliminated and pay may be decreased for teachers and paras. Come to the town hall and make it clear that these priorities are clearly misaligned with the needs of students in JISD.

  • School board may bring up only eliminating some librarians (elementary) and having them share campuses. This is NOT the answer! Literacy and achievement gaps start in elementary and only increase in middle and high school. Every campus needs a dedicated librarian.

Some research has been circulating about the number of district leadership positions in JISD compared to other districts nearby, particularly as it relates to how many students are served. This research involves district positions titled Deputy Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, Executive Director, and Director.

Schertz-Cibolo-University City ISD: 20 positions, 15,000 students

Southwest ISD: 25 positions, 14,000 students

Northside ISD: 26 positions, 101,000 students

Northeast ISD: 27 positions, 60,000 students

Judson ISD: 46 positions, 25,000 students

It is clear that the places to cut are in the district office. Come to the town hall and board meeting this week to have your voice heard!
