This week, I connected with Belinda Moore, the incredible advocate behind the successful FIASP petition. The campaign was very much community driven and saved access to a life-changing insulin from being removed from the PBS — and her insights are already helping shape our next steps. 📣 National Diabetes Week — Let’s Make Some Noise
With National Diabetes Week upon us, this weekend is the perfect time to share, talk, and promote the urgent need for insulin security. Let’s use this moment to amplify the message: We need insulin manufactured onshore again. And even sooner than that — we need to know if insulin is included in the National Medical Stockpile (NMS).
🧠 Did You Know?
Here’s what we’ve uncovered:
❌ No dedicated insulin stockpile has been publicly confirmed.
🧪 The General Emergency Stockpile includes vaccines, antidotes, and PPE — but insulin is not listed as part of this reserve.
📢 During past disruptions (like COVID-19), the government advised against personal stockpiling and reassured there were no shortages — but this reflects a reactive, not proactive, approach.
For people who rely on insulin every single day to stay alive, this lack of transparency is unacceptable. Diabetics deserve peace of mind — and that starts with knowing what’s in the NMS.
