Petition updateSecure a Sustainable Water Systems for AlamogordoWhat it means to me

I’ve lived in Alamogordo, and like so many in this town, I’ve come to love the quiet beauty of our desert home — the wide skies, the sound of the wind through the basin, and the sense of community that holds us together. But underneath all that, there’s a growing worry I can’t shake: Will we have enough water for the future?

Every year, the heat stretches longer. Our rains come less often — and when they do, they rush through too fast to help. Wells are drying up. Plants are dying. Some neighbors are already struggling with water restrictions. And we all know this isn’t just a drought — it’s a warning.

What scares me most is that we don’t seem to have a clear, long-term plan to make our water supply sustainable. Not just for the next few years, but for the next generation.

That’s why I started this petition — because we need leadership that takes water seriously. Not just in words, but in action: investing in conservation programs, recycling systems, greywater use, native landscaping, and regional cooperation with neighboring communities to protect the Tularosa Basin.

This isn’t political — it’s survival. It’s common sense. It’s our shared future.

If you’ve ever looked at your water bill and wondered how long it will stay affordable…If you’ve watched your garden wither, or feared what will happen if our aquifer keeps shrinking…

If you care about having clean water for your kids, your pets, your farm, or your trees…

Please join me. Sign the petition. Share it. Speak up. We can protect our water. We just have to act now — together.
